About Steve Gouws
The Person Behind the Voice
I'm Steve Gouws, a professional voiceover artist originally from South Africa and now based in Europe, working with clients around the world.
Storytelling has followed me all of my life. From competitive poetry recitals in primary school and Dungeons & Dragons as a teenager to 15+ years teaching English, I've always loved using my voice to hold an audience, create characters and make words mean something.
These days, I do it from behind a microphone, narrating documentaries, giving brands a voice, explaining complex ideas and occasionally becoming someone else entirely for a game or animation.
For me, great voiceover starts with understanding what the words are really trying to say. Then it's about getting out of the way and making them sound believable.
Genuine Positivity
People often tell me, “I love your energy!” I think that's simply because I'm naturally curious, optimistic and genuinely enjoy what I do.
I find interesting stories everywhere: in people, places, history, science and the slightly ridiculous parts of everyday life. That curiosity comes into the booth with me, and I think you can hear it in the work.
Easy to Work With, Serious About the Work
I've spent enough time in business to know that a great performance is only part of the job.
Clients need clear communication, clean audio, reliable turnaround and someone who takes direction without making the process complicated.
That's the standard I bring to every project. I show up prepared, listen carefully and work collaboratively to find the read you're looking for.
When I’m Not Behind the Mic
Away from the studio, I'm a dad, an enthusiastic bedtime-story narrator, a fan of short- and long-form improv, an avid reader and someone who's probably paying far too much attention to the voiceover in a well-made commercial.
I'm endlessly curious, don't take life too seriously and still enjoy disappearing into a good story, whether I'm reading it, watching it, playing it or telling it.
Let's Work Together
